Grunge/Glam Intense Dark Eye Tutorial

Firstly I just want to apologise! My last written eye tutorial was published at the very end of February making me super confused because I thought I had done it in March! Anyway I’m so sorry you’ve all had to wait this long but I’m making it up today with a grunge/glam intense dark eye!!

Enjoy *throws glitter in the air & struts off*

Intense black smokey eyes are scary for most as they are hard to get right if you aren’t too careful! Hopefully this step by step will help you achieve that sassy look. I’m using my Younique addiction eye palette 3 in shade ‘Irate’, Younique splurge cream eyeshadow in ‘skeptical’ and Younique addiction eyeshadow palette 2 in shade ‘blissful’. You’ll also need a black pencil eyeliner, and a mascara to complete the look.

Lets do this!

Using a medium eyeshadow brush you need to apply your black powdered eyeshadow into the crease of your eyelid, do this from the outer eyelid to the narrower end of the eye (Try to stay around that vicinity but don’t worry about it being crazy neat just yet).

Now you need to get your blending brush which by now you should know is like a ‘mini blusher brush’, go over the shadow you just applied blending back and forth so that it fades out instead of looking so harsh on the eye. (You can take as long as you need here until you feel you have blended enough.)

Now apply your cream black eyeshadow over your entire lid (I LOVE Younique skeptical because it has tiny pieces of glitter in it creating a really lush glam shade of black)! Take a look in your mirror, if you want to blend in a little more powdered black eyeshadow to balance it all out do that now, again only do this in the crease area of your eyelid.

Take your cream shadow again and apply this under the lower lash line from the outer eye inwards (You can take this as low as you want but don’t go too far below the lashes). Again blend this out but this time use a narrow eyeshadow brush. Add black eyeliner to your lower and upper waterlines (getting to your upper waterline can be a bit tricky so be careful not to stab yourself in the eye)!

Now you want your light shimmery shade and a narrow eyeshadow brush, apply the lighter shade to the tear duct area of the eye, this will give the look a bit of contrast.

Finally apply your mascara and touch up any smudges or ‘over blends’ using your concealer brush. And thats it, in a few little steps you’ve created your grunge/glam look!

I particularly like this look for a night out although its so versatile that it can be worn in the daytime too

I’ve always been intimidated by doing my own grunge/glam eye make up but your tutorial seems really simple (though I’ve been fooled countless times before, hahaha!). Will definitely give this look another go, thanks for posting 😉

Ahhh I love this look! I am a big fan of the smokey eye, I normally opt for dark browns over black, but this has inspired me to give a proper bold smokey eye a go, if it looks half as good on me as it does on you I’ll be pleased!
