You’re the one that I want by Giovanna Fletcher, you may recognise the name? Giovanna is the wife of Tom Fletcher, original Mcfly band member. Giovanna and Tom together have been quite famous for their youtube video pregnancy announcements, they share a beautiful family together and Giovanna has written a group of books one of which I was eager to read and here are my thoughts!
Maddy, dressed in white, stands at the back of the church. At the end of the aisle is Rob – the man she’s about to marry. Next to Rob is Ben – best man and the best friend any two people ever had.
And that’s the problem.
Because if it wasn’t Rob waiting for her at the altar, there’s a strong chance it would be Ben. Loyal and sensitive Ben has always kept his feelings to himself, but if he turned round and told Maddy she was making a mistake, would she listen? And would he be right?
Best friends since childhood, Maddy, Ben and Rob thought their bond was unbreakable. But love changes everything. Maddy has a choice to make but will she choose wisely? Her heart, and the hearts of the two best men she knows, depend on it…
I loved this book, It was both captivating and thrilling that I hated putting it down! Its written in as a three part perspective so that you get to know whats going on in the minds of all three characters.
Ben, Maddie and Robert are practically inseparable having grown up together from childhood. Known as ‘the tripod’ as if to suggest they are not complete if not in their trio, you can only imagine how close they are and what friendship means to them all. It tells the tale of a rather complicated love triangle throughout the most important times in a persons life. We see then grown from children, to teens, to young adults and later to adulthood.
The book has so much emotion incorporated into the story that it constantly squeezes at your heart strings! You’ll be at war with yourself figuring out how you feel about the characters, the challenges they face throughout and who’s done right from wrong.
Maddie is the perfect female role, she is your typical teen girl and you can quite often in the story relate to her. Shes fun loving, caring and like any young girl; confused!
Ben is who I rooted for the most in this story, he’s passionate, loving, so caring and often puts others before himself.
Rob was my least favourite character but I feel like that was because Ben had stolen my heart a little already so Rob didn’t stand a chance (As you can tell I’m emotionally invested in this story)!
If you love a compelling, easy read I’d recommend giving this book a go. Even though there are parts of the story that can be quite predictable, there are also parts that shock and keep you intreigued so it balances out really nicely.
