Its official, I’ve been blogging on My life In Rose Tinted Glasses for ONE YEAR!! I have to admit blogging is way more complicated than I ever imagined!! I was one of those people that was under the impression that I’d make a free blog on wordpress or blogger, begin to write stuff that I hoped other people would find interesting, I’d share it on facebook and if I got 100 views that day I’d be pretty confident that I’m doing well… Yeah, blogging really isn’t that straight forward!! You eventually want to buy your own domain, go self hosted, include adds and affiliate links, write quality content more than twice a month (twice a week is really the expectation), learn basic SEO skills, get thousands of views a day, continue to grow your social media platforms, take the most Pinterest worthy photos, get sponsors and collabs… the list is forever growing!! The thing is though, I really enjoy blogging even with all the unwritten rules that go with it!
Blogging to most looks glamorous and ‘easy’ but its neither of those things, blogging takes time, a lot of time and can sometimes be quite stressful if you put too much pressure on yourself. In my first year of blogging I have learnt that its not always going to turn out how I want it to, I might struggle for material sometimes and thats okay, everyone does! Not everyone in the blogging community is going to like me and really, thats okay too. I might write content that people skim through or don’t find interesting, but others will! Not every post I write will go viral and be an overnight success! I might not always take the best photos but we can’t be perfect all the time can we? And I’m NEVER going to have a friend who chills with me 24/7 taking the most professional, cute looking photos of me for my blog!! And yet, even though sometimes hard, blogging is still something I love to do!
Throughout this first year I’ve grown in confidence, I feel less awkward and anxious in social situations than I did before and its really helped me to find myself again (how cliche can I sound right?). I’ve made some incredible friends and had the chance to meet a few too!! My writing style has improved and I’m writing more content a month than when I first started. I even became a blogging contributor on Reallyree.com which I thoroughly enjoy! I now have a clear vision of how I want to improve my blog over this next year and I thank each and every one of you that stops by every now and again and hope you continue to read my ramblings!
Now we get to the fun part, here are some of my favourite posts from the year that you may have missed… enjoy!!
Then I had that post that went viral… This was something I was so not ready for, it was just a post I’d written to put something up on the blog. It was a hit and really helped me get to the 132k+ views that I have today!
This was a post that really didn’t need much from me but turned out to be a hilarious compilation of embarrassing moments from people of all walks of life. I wrote this pretty early on when I started the blog so a lot of you missed this one!
Here is a post where I got a little real about parenthood and its day to day struggles, I wrote this after reading a hideous post from someone without kids complaining about her friends with children not having time to do anything else but be a mum… I’ll leave it there!
Now this is a post that I felt compelled to write, at this point I wasn’t sure how personal I wanted to be on the blog so I pulled it back a little. This post really helped me get back to being me again!
This was a little post I wrote on life lessons, not wanting to bore people with an explanation for each of them it became more of a list albeit a motivational list!!
Here is the post where I decided being a little personal on the blog couldn’t be all that bad so I gave it a go and its one of my most motivational posts yet!
This was a post I felt I just had to write after spending the afternoon at a soft play centre. Parenting can really bring the worst out in some people… This one was a massive hit and sadly enough a lot of other mums could relate!
I also wrote that post on spotting fake friends and why you shouldn’t have to put up with them!
These are just a few posts that you’ll find on my little blog, once I had a clear focus on what I wanted my blog to be it became a lifestyle blog where I now write anything from what you see above to recipes, makeup tutorials & reviews and so much more!
Again, thank you to everyone that takes the time to read my blog, you’re all awesome!! Thank you to everyone who is so supportive and motivates me when I need it, you’re all such great friends! And finally, thank you to everyone who subscribes, shares and truly supports my blog, its definitely not easy so you guys make it worth it!!
