If you’re a part of the big blogging community on Twitter you would have probably seen a lot of #BWBlaunch usage over the last few weeks! Bloggers Who Brunch is a growing blogger support group and is now beginning to merge into the world of events bringing bloggers together, offering advice, motivation and support!
The founder and creator of BWB – Kirby Small, runs a blog of her own Kirbysmall.co.uk. Kirby is 21 and currently living in London whilst going to uni studying management and marketing. After the BWB launch event I caught up with Kirby to ask what BWB is all about –
1. What inspired you to come up with the idea of BWB?
I started my blog and instantly became involved with the community online on Twitter and Instagram and saw how close and friendly bloggers are to each other! Bloggers were mainly only going to events which they were invited to, rather than events where they can decide to go along with friends they’ve made online! I’m not sure where I got the name from but I guess it was the rise of the avocado!
2. What is the one thing you want bloggers to take away from each BWB event?
For everyone to go home feeling inspired, motivated and excited about their blog/YouTube is the goal. Talking to likeminded people and getting real life tips is so helpful!
3. What is your overall goal for BWB?
My goal is to cater to everyone, to support all niches of blogging and give them the perfect event for each niche!
And finally I asked Kirby why she started a blog herself –
I moved away from home to London for uni and wanted to start a blog to remember the new memories and allow my friends and family to catch up with what I’m doing here. Working, being at uni, trying to run BWB and blog at the same time has meant I’ve taken a bit of a back seat on my blog at the moment due to of lack of time! But excited to get back into it! I love the social media side of blogging and I think that’s why I became so invested in BWB!
The launch was a really great event. I myself get really nervous heading to these things alone having not met many other bloggers but Kirby made me feel so welcome!! The event started at 1pm, we all mingled and was given the opportunity to socialise and get to know one another. A little while after arriving Kirby introduced herself and Katy who you’ll know as Lexilife blogger and vlogger. Katy did a Q&A type talk on her vlogging experience and shared some really helpful tips and advice for anyone interested in starting to vlog for themselves. It was great meeting Katy shes just the same in real life as in her Youtube videos and her light hearted humour made us all laugh! Shortly after Katy’s talk we moved onto Katherine who was giving a photography workshop, she shared her knowledge and gave some really helpful advice, she even offered one on one help to those who had specific questions using their own cameras.
All in all I’d say the BWB launch event was a hit! I was able to meet a lot of people that I interact with on Twitter and Instagram and ended up feeling really inspired by the end of the meet! On one of the walls was a large whiteboard, Kirby had left markers out for everyone who wanted to write down their Twitter handles, I thought this was such a lovely touch! We even filled up on propercorn popcorn and we all loved it! As we came to the end of the meet we managed to get a huge shot of all who attended making the first ever #BWBlaunch one to remember!
On leaving the event Kirby announced that there will be more to follow. She’ll be focusing on doing blog genre specific meet ups, these will be really great for finding likeminded people in your chosen niche, and getting the support you need specific to your blog content!
Well done Kirby for putting on a great first event!!
